Bruneau once thought about becoming a comic book artist. When a young, talented French generation of comic book artists emerged, he left this path. His preference was more for the earlier work of Willy Vandersteen and Marc Sleen. Elements from the comic world always remained recognizable in his work. A recurring project revolved around the figure of Tintin. Together with artist Bert Lezy, Bruneau drew a series of alternative Tintins. Lezy made a short film impression of this. (This video report will certainly be included in the video documentary currently in preparation.) Bruneau did draw a few stories in comic strip form and came up with a brilliant comic character he named 'Empty Head.' But the comic strip remained a side path.

13 businesses located on Wolstraat are presenting a work by visual artist Bruneau in their windows throughout the month of February. Through QR stickers on the windows, you can access 13 short texts, each sketching a fragment of Bruneau's work. Together, they provide a brief insight into his oeuvre.
